Obedience Classes
Obedience training helps dogs develop good manners, respond reliably to their owners, and navigate everyday situations with greater confidence. I offer classes for different ages and experience levels, from puppies just beginning their training to dogs ready for advanced off leash skills. Several classes follow American Kennel Club (AKC) programs, including S.T.A.R. Puppy and Canine Good Citizen (CGC), which promote responsible dog ownership, foundational obedience, and positive behavior at home and in the community. Classes are limited to six dogs to help provide a more focused learning environment.
S.T.A.R. Puppy Class
The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program is designed to help puppies under 1 year of age and their owners get off to a positive start together. This course introduces foundational training and helps owners begin building good habits that can carry into adulthood. Commands include:
✓ Sit and down
✓ Acknowledging their name
✓ Loose leash walking
✓ Calm interactions with people
✓ Accepting handling of ears, feet, and collar

G.C.C. Level 1
This class prepares dogs for the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program, which focuses on reliable manners and appropriate behavior in everyday situations. Commands include:

✓ Calm interactions with people and dogs
✓ Accepting handling of ears, feet, and collar

Obedience Level 2
Level 2 builds on foundational obedience with more challenging commands, improved reliability, and preparation for the advanced CGCA test. Commands include:
✓ Sit, down, stand, come, and stay using hand signals
✓ Loose leash walking with improved control
✓ Introduction to off leash heel
✓ Recall from both the left and right sides
✓ Go to place off leash and remain until released

Obedience Level 3
Level 3 is designed for dogs that are already proficient in sit, down, and stay. Training focuses on advanced off leash control, distance, and maintaining attention around distractions. Commands include:

✓ Advanced turns and changes of direction
✓ Maintaining focus and responding reliably during movement
